“Hell Bent” Online Book Club!
Author Brian Recker is a former evangelical pastor who began asking a simple (and slightly dangerous) question: what the hell is up with “hell”? If you’ve ever felt the gap between the Jesus you’ve read or heard about, and the fear-driven noise of modern American Christianity… you’re not imagining it. And yes, “hell” might have something to do with that.
For eight Tuesdays, March 10th-April 28th, 9-10pm CST, Ian McConnell will host an online book club around Hell Bent, exploring how fear of eternal punishment has shaped Christian belief — and what might happen if love, not fear, became the center again.
We’ll gather on Discord (a free, easy-to-use app that lets people near and far join the conversation), which means you can participate whether you live in Minneapolis or across the country. Expect thoughtful discussion, honest questions, and a little playfulness around a topic that’s often treated as scary or off-limits.
