One with Everything

What did the Buddhist monk say to the hotdog vendor? "Make me one with everything." Jokes aside, most people report praying sometimes. So, what is prayer to you?  Does it change anything?  Maybe you’ve been hurt, disillusioned, or disgusted by claims about prayer. Maybe it has been important in your life or you are trying to figure it out. Join Fabric on Sundays and in Groups this March for a big, yet bite-sized exploration of this even bigger, yet personal conversation you've been part of your whole life. Welcome!

March 5 - Make Me One With Everything Science, history, polls and our own experience seem to say it is a basic human instinct to pray. Why is that? Can prayer be more than one more way to try to control or escape from reality?  Let’s start looking at this and trying some things together. LIVESTREAM | PODCAST | SUNDAY PAPER | GROUP GUIDE

March 12 - Practicing - part I Studies consistently show that people who pray have higher life satisfaction. But is that because they pray? Or do they pray because they are content? Two practitioners who have few answers, Greg Meyer and Mike Rusert, but have found important, evolving places for prayer in their lives will share some of their ‘why’ and ‘what’ and give you a chance to try it yourself. Prayer takes us deep into our lives and world. And that takes practice. LIVESTREAM | PODCAST | SUNDAY PAPER | GROUP GUIDE

March 19 - Practicing - part II Can you pray with me? Can I pray for you? Praying with or for others can feel hollow, intimidating, forced or worse. It can also be deeply healing and connective. As a chaplain, Chris Lillehei prays with people for a living and still wonders, what do we expect when we pray together? Praying with and for each other can open up surprising possibilities and be surprisingly slippery. This deserves some looking into, and some experiments! March 26 - Teaching Kids to Pray is a messy proposition, but the insights about how to guide them in this partnering with “All That Is” are the same insights that will guide us as adults. So whether you have kids or not, join Heidi Esposito and Greg Meyer as they help us wrestle with why we would do it, what we are trying to do, and how we can help our kids - and ourselves - to be prayer-full people. This will be a practical and practicable venture into something that can be invaluable to life. LIVESTREAM | PODCAST | SUNDAY PAPER | GROUP GUIDE

April 2 - Pray without Ceasing  Among all the things prayer is, one of them is a way of being. If prayer is being part of, or connected to ‘All That Is’ then it really should be a mode of existence not just something you do sometimes, regularly, or often. What can ‘pray without ceasing’ that the Bible talks about look like in your real, everyday, earthbound life? It may be a horizon none of us will ever reach, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth walking toward. LIVESTREAM | PODCAST | SUNDAY PAPER | GROUP GUIDE
